Obituary for Dickason

Don L. Dickason, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since the early 1930's after moving her from the Oklahoma Territory, died Monday, August 2, 1999. He is survived by his nephew, William D. Collier and wife, Betty of Albuquerque; niece, Betty Higgins Gentry and husband, Paul of Albuquerque; great-nephew, William L. Collier; great-nieces, Candace Collier, Dawn Campbell, Linda Higgins, Alice Ann Wylie, and Lori Sturgess; and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Dickason was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, in 1992. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Rio Grande Chapter, Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #461. Mr. Dickason began practicing law in New Mexico in 1932. In 1934, he became partner in Rodey, Dickason Law Firm, before retiring in 1971. Mr. Dickason served with the New Mexico State Senate for 12 years, from 1936 to 1948, and he was Majority Floor Leader for six of those 12 years. Services will be held Thursday, August 5, 1999, 1:30 p.m., at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE, with Reverend Fred W. Dorisse officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be provided by B.P.O. Elks Lodge #461. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., Wednesday, August 4, 1999, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch, 6209 Hendrix NE 87110, or the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, Inc., 615 Virginia SE 87108.
