Obituary for Olson

Harold Wiliam Olson, Lt. Col. Army Ordinance, Ret., 84, was born to William and Ella Beal Olson on June 25, 1914. He entered into rest on Tuesday, April 27, 1999 in Albuquerque. He proudly served his country from February 13, 1943 until April 30, 1965. He served in England, Hawaii, Germany, Taiwan, and Korea. He was the Army Ordinance advisor to the NM National Guard from 1954 to 1957 and to the Minnesota National Guard from 1960 to 1963. He was a member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church where he was an usher for over 20 years. He was a member and past president of the Albuquerque Chapter of Retired Officers Assoc., Mesa #68 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Freemason's Ballut Abyad Shrine, past commander of the Shrine Legion of Honor, past president of Sojourners Chapter #447, past commander of the Hero's of 76, Royal Order of Jesters, and the local chapter of the CCC. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; niece, Sharon Schatz and her husband, Dr. Herman Schatz, their sons, Timothy Schatz of Chicago, Dr. Todd Schatz and his wife, Kim; nephew, Jerome Thorson and his son, Eric Thorson of Minneapolis, MN; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents of Kintyre, ND; sisters, Grace Ohm of Oshkosh, WI, Ruth Thorson of Minneapolis, MN; two infant sisters; and nephew, Robert Ohm of Linton, ND. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 4, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at St. Timothy's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 211 Jefferson NE, with Pastor Jonathan Holmer officiating. Memorial graveside services will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Masonic Lodge, #68 officiating.
