Dr. Charles R. Griffith died March 12, 1999, at Lovelace Hospital. Graveside memorial will be announced at a later date. Dr. Griffith was born June 7, 1927, in Bridgeport, Ohio. He served in the Navy during World War II. He graduated from Ohio State University and obtained a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He was a retired Professor of Anthropology. He is survived by a son, Charles Bowman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a daughter, Gwynn Mathis of Lubbock, Texas; a sister, Sarah Shaw of Bridgeport, Ohio; and four grandchildren. Two wives, Katherine Perry Griffith Bowman, and Rosemary Coward Griffith, preceded him in death.
