Obituary for Maurer

Doug Lou Maurer passed away Sunday, April 25, 1999 at a local hospital in Albuquerque. She was born January 10, 1930 in Grand Junction, Colorado, just three months after her father, for whom she was named, died as a result of an accident. She married Edward E. Maurer September 18, 1949 and they would have been celebrated their 50th anniversary this years. Doug Lou and Ed lived in Grand Junction, CO, Grants, NM, and Tooele, UT prior to retirement in Rio Rancho. The Maurers are members of St. Matthew Episcopal Church in Grand Junction. Doug Lou loved playing golf with the Rio Rancho Country Club"Niners" and as an avid bridge player, was a member of three bridge groups. In addition to her beloved husband, Ed, Mr. Maurer is survived by their cherished daughter, Laura Freeman and her husband, Greg and her grandson, Paul Ryan Freeman, all of Littleton, CO. Also surviving is her darling westie named Dollie. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 1999, 11:00 a.m., at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rio Rancho, with Fr. Walter F. Smith, officiating. The church is located on Golf Course Rd. at 19th Street in Rio Rancho. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in memory of Doug Lou to the American Diabetes Assn of NM, 525 San Pedro NE 87108. Sunrise Society is serving the family to Mrs. Maurer.
