Obituary for Sobieski

John C. Sobieski, 82, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away Sunday, January 10, 1999. A Vigil service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, with a Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Chapel of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, with the Msgr. Joseph Tash officiating. Mr. Sobieski was born in Dayton, Ohio and lived there until 1959 at which time they moved to Pamona, CA. In 1975 they moved to Albuquerque where they lived until moving to Amarillo a little over a year ago. He was a retired Postal Carrier with 28 years of service. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of AARP, The National Association of Letter Carriers, NALC, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He married Mildred Duckro on July 16, 1942 at Dayton, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of the home; daughters, Marcia E. Mooney of Gardnerville, NV, Marilyn E. Honea of Amarillo, TX, Peggy Bingham, Garland, TX, and Janice C. Lee, Upland, CA; one son, Jon C. Sobieski, Newbury Park, CA; one sister, Angela Birt, Dayton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
