Samuel David Smith, Noted Artist, Prof. Emeritus of U.N.M. and long time resident of Telluride, CO, died at the age of 81 after a short illness on Sunday, May 23, 1999 in Montrose Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his widow, Elizabeth of Telluride; two sons, Lt. Rembrandt Smith, USN of Anacortes, WA, Michelangelo Smith of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter, Cezanne Turner of Albuquerque; and five grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Sam's life will be held later this summer at Navajo Lake, N.M. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
