Obituary for Gilbert

Dr. Jules Gilbert, age 93, a resident of Albuquerque for 36 years, passed away on February 3, 1999. He is survived by two daughters, Samette Gilbert of Las Cruces, Gayanne Fried of San Jose, CA; one son, Mark Gilbert and wife, Gretchen of El Paso, TX; sisters, Pearl and Lillian of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren, Keri Fitch, Lene Fried, Lisa Gilbert, Adam Fried and Stephanie Walls. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rhoda in 1990. He was a member of Congregation B'Nai Israel. Dr. Gilbert was in private practice for 32 years in Mount Rainier, Maryland. Upon moving to Albuquerque in 1963, he worked for the Federal Government, Bureau of Indian Affairs. He subsequently became assistant Director of Public Health for Bernalillo County. He served on the Inaugural Committee for President John F. Kennedy, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. He received his medical degree from St. Louis University Medical School in 1932. He served his country as a Captain during WWII. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 5, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. with Rabbi Isaac Celnik and Cantor Josh Perlman officiating.
