Merlin H. McGirk, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away Wednesday morning in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances M. McGirk; son, James McGirk and wife, Virginia of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Barbara and husband, C.E. (Joe) Young of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Michael McGirk and wife, Kelly, David McGirk, Daniel McGirk, Jodi McGirk, Thomas McGirk; great-grandchild, Alycia McGirk, Margaret Young, Timothy Young, Robert Young; brother, Donald McGirk and wife, Lee of Rockford, IL. Mr. McGirk retired from Sandia National Laboratory after 33 years. Following cremation a memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel. Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Presbyterian Heart Fund or a charity of your choice.
