Obituary for Markus

Ida E. Markus, age 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 57 years, passed away on February 2, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Shirl Grayson and husband, Wally of Santa Monica, CA; her son, Jerry Markus and wife, Marlene of Poway, CA; her son-in-law, William Sarnoff of New York, NY; her sister, Mary Gordon of Grand Junction, CO; her brother, Paul Tananbaum of Albuquerque; her 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin; and her daughter, Pam Sarnoff. She was a founding member of Congregation B'nai Israel and the Sisterhood. She was the owner and operator of The Fair Store until age 82. Her life was filled with love for her family, work and travel. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 4, 1999 at 12:30 p.m. in Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE, with Rabbi Isaac H. Celnik and Cantor Josh Perlman officiating. A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, 7:30 p.m., at Congregation B'nai Israel.
