Obituary for Maes

Elena Maes, 25, a resident of Albuquerque for seven years, died Thursday, June 3, 1999. She was born March 8, 1974 in Ely, NV. Elena is survived by her father, Benito Maes; mother, Lucille Maes; brother, Steven Dominic Maes and wife, Kristee, all of Albuquerque; sister, JoAnna Maes of Los Angeles, CA; niece, Kayleigh Maes; grandmother, Marie Armijo; and many other family and friends. Elena resided in Silver City for 14 years. Her achievements were in music and songwriting. Elena majored in Psychology at the University of New Mexico and was a member of numerous academic fraternities. She enjoyed playing golf, singing, traveling, and skiing. Elena will be deeply missed by family and friends. Though she was only here a short time, she brightened many lives. Memorial Rosary will be recited Monday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE. Private interment of cremains will take place.
