Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday June 06, 1999

In Loving Memory MS. JIMMY PALOZZIMs. Jimmy passed away peacefully but suddenly in the company of her family at home on 5/17/99. She was formerly Jimmy Dean McCabe, born 3/1/1916 in Clovis, NM. The family then moved to Brea, CA. She lived most of her life in California and New Mexico; also ten years in the Phoenix/Sun City area; then retired to Albuquerque in 1989 to be near her family after working many years as a home health care assistant to Alzheimers patients and the needy elderly. She was married to Mr. Frank Mason in the 30's-40's. She served in Women's Army Corps in WWII and was in the first group of women pilots trained in that era. She was then married to Mr. Joseph Palozzi of Palm Springs, CA from 1948-66. They had one daughter. Ms. Jimmy had many interests, including music, sewing and crafts, gardening, and caring for others. Ms. Jimmy suffered the after-effects of stroke since 1994 and had been cared for by the family and other providers since that time. She is survived by her sister, Ms. Dolline Wensley of Morongo Valley, CA. Also survived by her daughter, Vicci Tune and husband, Richard; her grandchildren, Carl Tune, Chandra Tune, and Sabina Tune-Currier and Richard Currier; and her 15 month old twin great-grandsons, Shumani and Indica Currier, who brought much joy to her life; a great-granddaughter, Jasmine is forthcoming. Ms. Vicci Tune wishes to also acknowledge with thanks and appreciation the following extended members of the family who stayed at our home during the past year and helped with Ms. Jimmy's care and supervision and who"adopted" Ms. Jimmy as"Grandma": Jeremy Butler, Johnathan Ashby and Vance Griffin. At Ms. Jimmy's request, no funeral was held. Ms. Jimmy had arranged for the donation of her body to science/research through the University of New Mexico's Maxwell Museum of Anthropology. She wished for her many friends to remember her as she was in the good times of the past. She brought joy to the lives of many. The family conducted a brief memorial for Ms. Jimmy; flowers provided by Ms. Dolline Wensley. At a future date, the family will create a memorial garden and a stone for the garden will be cut using funds for this graciously provided by Ms. Vicci's co-workers at Village Inn. The family also wishes to express thanks and appreciation to all other care providers during the past five years, especially Ms. Lynn Ransom, a dear friend who provided on-call support for many years.
