Obituary for Shirley

Kevin Scott Shirley, 17, died suddenly of gunshot wounds from an unknown assailant on Saturday, May 30, 1999. He was a valued member of the junior varsity soccer team and Manzano High School and, according to his coach, would have been a starter his senior year on the varsity soccer team. He was a dedicated member of St. John's United Methodist Church where he was active in the Next Step program, a Bible study group. Kevin was a loyal friend to many. His memory will be cherished by his parents, Wayne and Joan; sisters, Kirsten and Karen; grandparents, Donald and Sarah Shirley and John and Verla Paulsen; aunts and uncles, Barrett and Donna Earnest, Dane and Joy Morsaint, Eugene and Nikki Paulsen; great aunts, great uncles; cousins; and many, many friends. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona, NE with Rev. Jim Hawk, Rev. E. Leonard Gillingham and Rev. Robert Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Austin Dougherty,, Gavin Stanley, Todd Parsons, Joe Garcia, Leef Crawford, Nick Johnson, Matt London, Jeffrey Getz and Robert Bough.
