Obituary for Luna

Antonio Luna, 84, passed away Saturday, May 29, 1999 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born October 18, 1914 to Luciano and Margarita Sanchez Luna in Polvadera, NM. A devoted educator, Mr. Luna retired in 1975 after 35 years as a teacher and principal in the Socorro Consolidated School System. He also served as a volunteer and on the boards of many local organizations. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Emilia Chavez Luna of their home in Polvadera; son, Ernesto Luna and wife, Mary of Albuquerque; daughter, Patricia Luna of Albuquerque; sisters, Viola Luna of El Paso, TX, Ernestine Henderson of San Diego, CA, and Terry Robinson of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Catherine Luna and numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 1, at 7:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, NM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 2, at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Flavio Santillanes as Celebrant. Internment will be in the Polvadera Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Midway Elementary School Library Fund, c/o Socorro Consolidates Schools, 700 Franklin, Socorro, NM 87801.
