Obituary for Valdez

Mr. Thomas F. Valdez, 68, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 27, 1999. Mr. Valdez is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Elisa; three daughters, Diana Gomez, Maryann Marquez and husband, Albert, Lisa Portillo and husband, Tom; one son, Tom F. Valdez Jr. and wife, Rhonda; three sisters, Laverne Esposito, Louise Lasley, Evelyn Oates and husband, Larry; one brother, Pete Valdez and wife, Goldie; 14 grandchildren, Brian, Jason, John and Adam Valdez, Tommy Lee and Anthony Gomez, Christina, Brianne, Beverly, Merlinda and Valerie Marquez, Annamarie, Miranda and Angelica Portillo; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Lee Gomez and Alexis Valdez; his in-laws, Stella M. Baca and husband, Joe, Jennie Lopez, Claude Marino and wife, Chris and Joe Marino and wife, Cecilia; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Valdez was a member of the Catholic Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #49, Life Member of the D.A.V. Chapter 3, and member of American Legion Post 13. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., in the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna NW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Thursday morning in the church, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., with a Communion service at 9:00 a.m., Deacon Juan Barrajas, Officiant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Brian, Jason, John and Adam Valdez, Tommy Lee and Anthony Gomez. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, in charge of arrangements.
