Obituary for Chavez

Mike Chavez, 46, a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 20, 1999. Mike graduate from Del Norte High School in 1971; he was a parishioner of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church; he was employed with Plant World as a landscaper; and his hobby was hunting. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Gene Chavez in 1990. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Jackie Chavez of the family home; his adored children, Deanne Chavez and fiancee, James Lopez of Phoenix, AZ, Yvette Chavez and boyfriend, Bobby Martinez, April Chavez and boyfriend, Alfredo Moya, Michael Chavez and Solomon Chavez, all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren. Also surviving are his loving mother, Mary Chavez of Albuquerque; four sisters, Betty Hernandez and husband, Fred, Cathy Chavez, Helen Archuleta and husband, Eddie, Linda Chavez and boyfriend, Ray Martinez, all of Albuquerque; five brothers, Herman Chavez, John Chavez, Danny Chavez and girlfriend, Elena, Raymond Chavez and girlfriend, JoAnn, James Chavez, also all of Albuquerque; longtime friend, Jerry Chavez of Rio Rancho; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Final viewing will be this morning, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Casket bearers will be Jerry Chavez, Fred Apodaca, Fred Hernandez, Freddie Hernandez, Bobby Martinez, Alfredo Moya, and James Lopez. Funeral services are under the care and direction of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW, 243-5222.
