Obituary for Andersen

John"Andy", age 56, died July 21, 1999, surrounded by his family and friends after a heroic battle with cancer. Andy, a mentor and friend to all, was a major figure in the floor covering business for many years. Andy was born in Ellsworth, Kansas on May 6, 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy, 1964-1968. He then worked for Tandy Corporation for many years before buying a Honda dealership in Arizona. After a short retirement he opened Meridian Services, a floor covering business in Albuquerque. The remainder of his life he spent in the commercial floor covering business. With great joy, Andy married Katherine in 1995. Their life together was a marvelous experience for the combined families. Andy is survived by his wife, Katherine; sister, Janet Fisher of Salina, KS; daughter, Jennifer Andersen; and grandchildren, Eric and Angela of Isanti, MN; and two step-grandchildren, Alex Coursey and Beth Robinson of Albuquerque. Sandia Mountain Lodge #72 will conduct the Masonic Funeral at the Ballut Abyad Shrine, 6600 Zuni SE, on Saturday, July 24 at 3:00 p.m. A barbecue will follow to celebrate Andy's life.
