Obituary for Spurgeon

Helen Annette Spurgeon, 80, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1987, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 1999. Helen was born January 3, 1919, the daughter of Floyd and Estella Oyler Steele in Mansfield, Ohio. Helen is survived by her husband, James C. Spurgeon of Rio Rancho; children, Judy Smith of Burbank, CA and Dr. Gerald Lesniak of Billingham, WA; grandchildren, Terri McLaughlin and George Smith; one great-granddaughter, Jessica McLaughlin; step-children, Thomas E. Spurgeon and wife, Darlene of Dublin, OH, Nancy Whitman and husband, Thomas of Doylestown, OH, James (Bill) Spurgeon and wife, Judy of San Marcos, CA, and Marilyn J. Wilder and husband, Walter of Kettering, OH; two sisters, Jane Murray of Fresno, CA and Kathryn Kepler and husband, Bob of Fountain Hills, AZ. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a devoted homemaker. There will be a visitation today, Tuesday, July 20, 1999, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with the service being held on Wednesday, July 21, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary with the Rev. Dr. Richard Freeman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.
