Obituary for Tafoya

Damian Ian Tafoya, 29, went to be with the Lord December 31, 1998. Damian was born in Deming, NM on October 23, 1969. He accepted Christ as a child while attending Temple Baptist Church in Albuquerque. Immediately after graduating from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, NM in 1987 at the age of 17, he joined the United States Army to become an Airborne Ranger, earning his jump wings. Damian became a decorated combat veteran during the Panama invasion in 1989-1990 earning the armed forces Expeditionary Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge for exemplary service during combat. While in the Army, he was awarded the Army Service Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal for his dedicated service to his country. Since separating from the military, Damian had been pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Psychology at the University of New Mexico where he planned to enroll in medical school after graduation. He recently secured a position with the United States Postal Office. Damian is survived by his expectant wife, Jennifer Leigh Tafoya whom he married on December 31, 1994; his daughter, Angelique Monique Tafoya; his parents, David and Jo Ann Tafoya; and his brother, Ivan Tafoya, all of Albuquerque, NM. Damian was a beloved son, brother, and a loving, dedicated husband and father. Damian, we will always love you and miss you tremendously. The love and joy you've brought into our life will be with us always. In our eyes, you will always be a hero. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Albuquerque, with Interment to follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Joe Pierce, pastor of Loving Assembly of God in Loving, NM, assisted by Rev. Fred Gurule, associate pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Albuquerque.
