Obituary for Heavner

Donie G. Heavner, age 67, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, March 13, 1999 in San Diego, California, surrounded by his loving wife and family while he was receiving treatment for cancer. He is survived by his wife, Dottie of 45 years; four sons, a daughter, and their spouses, Douglas and Nancy of Las Cruces, Dan and Anna, David, Dorothy and Mark Steel, Dennis and Cindy, all of the Albuquerque area; seven grandchildren, Wilson, Tiffany, Jeremy, Andrew, Jonathan, Christopher and Jessica; two great-grandchildren, Kora and Joshua; brother-in-law, Richard Moore and wife, Betty of Earth, TX; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Harris of Albuquerque. His many hobbies, including the computer and HAM radio stemmed from service with the Air Force as a radio operator and his 26 years as an air traffic controller and computer specialist with the FAA. Don was greatly loved and will be missed by his family and friends. Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 18, 7:00 p.m., at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris St. NE, where he was an active member for many years. Officiating will be Pastor Larry Miller and Dr. Ronald W. Mansdoerfer. Honorary pallbearers will be his men's Sunday School class. The family will meet with friends at a reception following the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Private graveside services will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
