Obituary for Dannenbaum

George S. Dannenbaum, 83, passed away early Sunday morning on March 14, 1999 at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona. Born in Grants, New Mexico May 25, 1915 to Bernard Dannenbaum and Rica Morgan Dannenbaum, George was a lifelong resident of Grants. He was also the former Mayor of Grants during the Uranium Boom, and recently authored the book"Boom to Bust." He was the beloved husband of the late Jennie (Padilla) Dannenbaum. George is survived by his six children, Rick Dannenbaum of Albuquerque, Ken Dannenbaum and his wife, Mary Ruth of Phoenix, Georgianna Dannenbaum of Grants, Tom Dannenbaum and his wife, Anna of Phoenix, Jon Dannenbaum of Grants, and Rae Ann Dannenbaum of Phoenix. George also has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. George was past State Commander of V.F.W. and a member of the D.A.V. Post. He served the community as Deputy Sheriff, teacher, Juvenile Probation Officer, and was a five term Mayor of Grants. He owned and published the"Uranium City News", and also owned several businesses. George was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM following cremation on Friday, March 19, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. Grants Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
