Thelma Chamness Klein, born May 2, 1909, passed away March 12, 1999, at a local nursing home. Mrs. Klein had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1940. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church until she was unable to attend. Mrs. Klein was a life-long member of the WSCS. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lee Chamness in 1957 and Harry Klein in 1978; a sister, June DeMattei; three brothers, Frank, Glen and"Jick" Hayse of Benton, IL; and by a grandson, Brian Jones of Albuquerque. Mrs. Klein is survived by her daughters, Nancy Jones and husband, Lewis E. Jones of Albuquerque, and Jo Chamness Prevatte of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Amy and Kevin Schum and Holly Jones of Albuquerque, and Scott and Tami Austin and Laura Prevatte of Atlanta; her sister, Juanita Kinkade; and brother, J B Hayse, both of Benton, IL. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church, 3713 Silver, SE, on Tuesday, March 16, at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Klein's cremated remains will be buried next to Lee Chamness in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
