Obituary for Alexander

Dr. Martin M. Alexander, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, died Monday, March 8, 1999. He was born in Detroit, MI on January 14, 1915. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Lannie and her husband, Steve; son, John and his wife, Emily; two grandsons, Craig and George; two brothers, Sidney L. Jr and Gabriel N.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He attended the University of Michigan where he was a member of the Big Ten Championship track team. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1939. During WWII he was a flight surgeon with the 52nd Fighter Group in Italy, Corsica and Sicily. While overseas, he met Mary Ann Landis who was serving in the American Red Cross. They were married on the Isle of Capri while still in the service and have been married 55 years. After WWII he practiced medicine in Denver from 1946-1980. In 1962 he was Chief of Staff at General Rose Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Colorado State Board of Medical Examiners from 1959-1965. A private family service was held. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd, NE.
