Obituary for Maydew

Randall Clinton Maydew, beloved husband, father, step-father and grandfather, died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 6, 1999. He was 75 years old. Randall was born on January 29, 1924 in Cora, KS. Randall was an Army Air Corps B-29 Navigator in WWII. He received a BS in 1948 and an MS in 1949 in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Colorado. Randall retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1991 after a 34-year career. Randall was an active member of Central United Methodist Church. He volunteered at the National Atomic Museum and was an active member of the SW Writers. His passion was gardening. Randall is preceded in death by his father, Kermit; his sister, Edra Kay; and his brother, Bob. Randall is survived by his loving wife, Jean; his children, Jenan Gonzales and husband, Jerry from Albuquerque, NM, Randall Paul from Albuquerque, NM and Barbara Maydew and husband, Kevin Buescher from Los Alamos, NM; his step-children, Susan Wilson and husband, Sam from Estancia, NM, Steven Pannell and wife, Regina from Las Cruces, NM, and Sandra Freeman from Mesa, AZ; and ten grandchildren, Mark and Ryan Maydew, Tanja and Ashley Thompson, Jerome Gonzales, Sara and Derek Freeman, Brian Wilson, and Cassie and Kyle Pannell. Randall is also survived by his mother, Lelia from Lebanon, KS; brothers, Gene and wife, Thelma of Pocatello, ID, Marvin and wife, Ona Mae from Topeka, KS, and Norris and wife, Vera from Lebanon, KS; sister-in-law, Ava Lee Maydew from Portis, KS; brother, Gary and wife, Nancy from Ames, IA; sister, Ann Norwood and husband, Don from Hastings, NE; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE, 87106. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
