Obituary for Taylor

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday February 10, 1999

Ramona Taylor, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Tuesday, February 9, 1999. Born on August 31, 1904, she lived a long and devoted life. Those she touched with her kindness and generous spirit mourn her with gratitude. She was part of a large family, however, she is survived by only one sister, Regina Jaramillo. Ramona was the daughter of Seledon Medina and Manuelita Ortega Medina. Her father died when she was seven years old. She was raised with heroic struggle by her mother, who died in 1950. In 1934, she married Sherman Taylor. Together they owned and operated a store in Nolan, New Mexico, for many years. Likewise, for many years, she was postmistress of Nolan, New Mexico. She and her husband, moved to Albuquerque in 1951. Her husband died in 1961. Much more could be said about this remarkable woman. However, the love and devotion of her many nephews and nieces is her highest tribute. She will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas since 1949. She was also a member of the Blue Army. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 11, 1999, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. The Mass of Resurrection will be offered by her nephew, Fr. Luis Jaramillo, Friday, February 12, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee NE. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Thursday, 5:00 p.m. until Rosary.
