Obituary for Lucero

Max Lucero, 73, a resident of Tome, passed away on January 28, 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church where he taught confirmation classes, and a member of the Tierra Del Sol Country Club. Max was a WWII veteran in the Navy, stationed in the South Pacific as a radio operator on the air craft carrier Essex. He was a past president of the AMI group in 1989 and 1990. Max was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos. He is survived by his wife, Emelene Ortega Lucero; children, Jacque Lucero Paul, Stephen Paul, Denise Lucero Comte, John Comte, Maxim Lucero, Laurie Lucero, David Lucero, Paula Lucero Lindgren, Tim Lindgren, Anne Lucero Custy, and Dennis Custy; grandchildren, Teresa, Stephanie and Benjamin Paul, Bridgette and Timothy Lindgren, Elena Lucero, Ashlee Custy; one great-grandchild, Sykona Paul. Max is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins from his mother and father's side from Colorado. Viewing will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 10:00 a.m., at the San Ysidro Catholic Church in Pueblitos, NM. Internment will be held on Friday, 1:00 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Timothy Lindgren, Dennis Custy, Doug Woods, Ted Ortega, Nick Manzanares, and Louis Verdeal. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Griego, Abram Torres, Celestino Martinez, and Jose Torres. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
