Obituary for Geoffrion

Henry E. Geoffrion, 59, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and son, went to heaven on April 22, 1999 in the year of our Lord. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances P. Geoffrion; granddaughter, Melanie D. Padilla; and great-grandson, Michael Maes, all of the family home. He is also survived by his son, Henry A. Geoffrion III and his wife, Victoria and his grandchildren, Jessica, Henry IV, and Jennifer; his loving daughter, Roxanne Geoffrion-Maestas and her husband, Henry and grandchildren, Christina, Stephen, Amy and Erin; his baby daughter, Michelle Atencio and her husband, Gary and grandchildren, Elisa, Erica, Jacquelyne and Gary Michael. He is also survived by his mother, Cordelia Geoffrion; and sisters, Eileen Maes and her husband, Eloy, Diane Monroe and her husband, Elias, Louise Lucero and her husband, Leroy, Agripina Geoffrion, Julia Montoya and her husband, Carlos, and Joann Ortiz and her husband, Jimmy. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles that loved him very much. Henry was preceded in death by his father, Henry Geoffrion, his brothers, Manuel (Mickey) Geoffrion, and Gregory Geoffrion. Henry retired from the Albuquerque Fire Department as a captain in 1982. Henry loved God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and our Blessed Mother very much. He lived Cursillo #82 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Albuquerque. He served our Lord as a eucharistic minister to the sick. He volunteered helping cancer patients for therapy, with prayer, and making appointments for them. He was a member of the Los Hermanos Cruzados de Senor Jesucristo, Concilio de San Miguel, helping others find the Lord. He also was involved with the prison ministry. He lent a helping hand to anyone in need, opening his home to many in a time of need, including the Lee Vong & Pao Cha Lo family and their eight children from Laos. Henry loved horse racing, boxing and basketball and will be remembered always as a loving, caring, individual who's example of charity and unselfishness will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Cremation has taken place and a Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church by the Hermanos Cruzados de Senor Jesucristo with music by Lee Romero and friends from Santa Fe. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father George Salazar on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. The Albuquerque Fire Department will lead this procession to Mt. Calvary Cemetery for the graveside committal service. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Shade, Henry Geoffrion IV, Ignacio Perez, Eloy Gonzales, Faris Rains, Paul Herrera, Mel Castello, Larry Lopez, Wilfred Quintana, Trinny Martinez, and Benny Martinez. The family has requested that memorials be sent to the Immaculate Conception Church, 811 Sixth Street, Las Vegas, NM 87701 in his memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Billy G.
