Obituary for Hughes

Jane Alexander Hughes, 83, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, April 17, 1999. She is survived by her niece, Marilyn Miller Carlton and husband, Dave of Lecompte, LA; nephew, Charles A. Ross and wife, June of Bellingham, WA; grandniece, Carolyn; and many friends. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore R. Hughes in 1994; and sisters, Ruth Alexander Miller and Jean Alexander Ross. She worked at Los Alamos National Labs during the 1940s. Returning to school at the University of Arizona, she received her teaching diploma. Jane taught in Arizona before moving to Albuquerque where she was an English teacher during the 1960s and 1970s. After retiring she was active in the Duke City Bridge Club, in several wildlife groups and enjoyed traveling. Services will be held Thursday, 11:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Dave M. Hartenberger officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. H.H.
