Emily Makal, age 73, and a resident of Albuquerque for 48 years, died May 5, 1999 in a local nursing home following an illness. Ms. Makal is survived by a nephew, Andrew; a niece, Kathy; cousins, Rudy and Maxine, Kay, David and Ann, Louis, and Josie; and her dear friends, Dorothy Schweitzer and Irma Hofman. She retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1993 after 40 years of employment. Visitation will be held Friday, May 7, 1999, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Services will be held Saturday, May 8, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary with Larry Pierson officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, in charge of arrangements.
