Hazel Marie Smeltzer, 87, widowed wife of John R. Smeltzer; mother of Janice, Robert, Jack, Jerry and Steve, died Friday at Presbyterian Pickard Convalescent Home. Hazel was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of John and Laura Oser. Hazel and her family moved to Albuquerque in 1948, retired from Sandia Laboratories and has worked at the City of Albuquerque's Zoo and the Child's Garden Daycare. Hazel is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Besides her five children, she is survived by five grandchildren. Private Services for the family will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, Tuesday, with a Graveside Service at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15th at Fairview Memorial Park.
