Mary Wilson (Bailey) Nored passed away September 5, 2003. She was born in Hamilton, TX, and was the daughter of Dr. Thomas Bennett Bailey and Grace (Wheeler) Bailey. She had many fond memories of growing up in Brownwood, TX where her father was a physician. Her family moved to Austin, TX in 1931. Mary graduated from St. Mary's High School in Austin and attended North Texas Women's College in Denton, TX. After returning to Austin she met and married Clarence Eugene Nored of Corpus Christi, TX on January 1, 1942. After World War II Mary and Gene lived in Austin, Corpus Christi and Marshall, TX. They settled in Las Vegas, NV in 1965 where Mr. Nored was a pharmacist for White Cross Pharmacy at the time of his death in 1970. Mary enjoyed life, all God's creatures great and small and was a longtime supporter of the National Wildlife Federation. She loved to fish in the Gulf of Mexico where she caught her prized Tarpon. Mary had a great sense of adventure and was always ready to travel. Her devoted husband, Gene nicknamed her "Skipper" and that she was - the skipper of our family. She will be remembered for her optimism about life, her humor and her never dying love and support for her children. She was preceded in death by her sister, Van Enola Chauvin. She is survived by her son, Thomas Nored and wife, Diana of Corpus Christi, TX; her three daughters, Cheryl Dean and husband, Dr. Allen Dean of Albuquerque, NM, Kim Fucile of Albuquerque, NM, and Pam Forbes of Las Vegas, NV; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, T.B. Bailey of Austin, TX, Dr. Charles Bailey and wife, Marylove of Austin, TX, and Robert Bailey and wife, Elizabeth of Mesquite, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
