Mrs. Eunice Loftis, born on September 21, 1914 to Jesse and Odie Lovvorn in Texas, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on September 8, 2003 in Belen, NM. Eunice, along with her husband Edwin, was the owner and operator of the Taos Motel for 16 years in Taos, NM. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Belen for 21 years and volunteered her time with a Spanish missionary group for over 40 years. Eunice is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Edwin Loftis of the family home in Belen; two loving daughters, Lou Jane Martin and her husband, Don of Amarillo, TX; and Sue Jean Thompson of Albuquerque, NM; six granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Eunice's family would like to express their thanks to Quality Continuum for their care and compassion for Eunice during her illness. All services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Belen beginning with a viewing on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. with Jim Duncan officiating. Interment will follow services at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Oscar Cole, Bill Blanton, Harold Crump, and Roland Graves. Romero Funeral Home 609 N. Main St. Belen NM 87002.
