Obituary for Hatheway

Edwin S. Hatheway Sr., 65, born May 3, 1935, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 14, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Judith W. Hatheway of Albuquerque; son, Edwin S. Hatheway Jr. of Albuquerque; daughter, Mary Hatheway-Lueras and husband, Avery Lueras of Albuquerque; mother, Sophie F. Toman of Albuquerque; brothers, Phillip R. Hatheway of Albuquerque and Galen B. Hatheway of Billings, MT; and good friend, Shannon C. Hatheway of Albuquerque. Ed began his career in 1953 at Wingate Ordinance Depot in Gallup, NM as Clerk Typist and finished up as Cost Accountant. He then transferred to the Gallup Indian Medical Center as Administrative Assistant in 1960. By 1969, when he left, he was Finance Officer for the medical center. That same year, Ed began working as Budget Officer for the Navajo Area Public Health Service in Window Rock, AZ. When he retired from the federal government on February 28, 1980, he was Financial Management Officer for the Navajo Area. In 1984, he went to work for Star Paving Company in Albuquerque as Office Manager. He served in this position for eight years until 1992, when he began providing consulting services for the Company. After 13 years of service to Star Paving Company, Ed retired in 1997. Wake will be held Sunday, December 17, 2000, 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Deacon Al McLane officiating. Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 18, 2000, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE.
