Obituary for Yandell

Joanna W. Yandell, 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1944, died Friday, January 21, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Desmond Yandell of Albuquerque; sister, Mary Botterwick of Newton, KS; brother, Al Kater and wife, Lorraine of Newton, KS; five nieces and one nephew. Mrs. Yandell was born in Germany on November 10, 1902. Her parents migrated to the United States in 1909 and she later moved to California. She gained her citizenship at Long Beach, CA in 1940. During World War II, Mrs. Yandell went to stay with her mother while her brothers were away in the military service. She moved to Albuquerque in 1944 where she met Desmond, and they were married in 1946. Mrs. Yandell worked for the Broome Furniture Company for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of Heights Christian Church for 35 years. Services will be on Monday, January 24, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Heights Christian Church on Louisiana and Comanche NE. Pallbearers will be Charles France, Jr., Mike Hatchell, Don DuBerry, Kelly Peil, and Peter A. Arndt. Memorial contributions may be made to Heights Christian Church, 6935 Comanche Rd. NE, 87110.
