Obituary for Mantonye

Helen J. Mantonye, 87, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, January 16, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Ernestine Thomas and husband, Merrill"Tommy;" grandsons, Bill Thomas and wife, Laurie and Ken Thomas, all of Albuquerque; brother, Frank"Bud" Ault and wife, Alice of Wylie, TX; stepson, Berry Cox and wife, Sada of Las Palamas, NM; and niece, Kaye Thompson and husband, Jack of Colorado Springs, CO. Mrs. Mantonye was preceded in death by her husband, John Mantonye. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Albuquerque. Mrs. Mantonye was a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Association. She was one of the first manicurists to do men's nails while working at the Court Barber Shop, the Hilton Barber Shop and the Simms Building Barber Shop. Mrs. Mantonye enjoyed playing with her circle of friends. She also enjoyed painting. Mrs. Mantonye will be greatly missed. Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE, with Rev. Martha A. Singleterry officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
