Gilberto Leonardo Chavez, age 43, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday. He is survived by two brothers, Jose Chavez and wife, Annie, Richard Chavez and wife, Margie; two sisters, Criselda and husband, Edwin Zamora, Val and husband, Paul Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Antonio J. Chavez; and parents, Melisendro Chavez and Deluvina Chavez Demilio. The Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Sunday, in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper NW. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Military Honors in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be Jose Chavez, Richard Chavez, Edwin Zamora, Eddie Zamora, Paul Garcia, and Ben Gonzales. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, in charge of arrangements.
