Obituary for Lamude

Dr. Diane Furno Lamude, 54, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 8, 2000, at her home. She is survived by her two sisters, Marie Van Walleghem and husband, Jack of Chifton, NJ and Alberta L. Repko of Meadville, PA; and one brother, Timothy Furno and wife, Susan of Flint, MI. Dr. Lamude was preceded in death by her father, Albert Furno; mother Mary McCarthy Furno; and also some aunts and uncles. She was born on February 25, 1946 in Meadville, PA. Dr. Lamude received her Master's degree in Communications from the University of New Mexico and then her Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 1988. After receiving her doctorate, she returned to Albuquerque as an Associate Professor of Communications at UNM, also serving on the department's Executive Committee. Dr. Lamude published various articles in several professional journals including ¯Burnout and Managers¯ Tactics of Influence¯ in Perceptual and Motor Skills, which she co-wrote with her former husband, Kevin Lamude; ¯Media Consumption of Nostalgic Products among Past, Present, and Future Types¯ in Southwestern Mass Communications Journal; Dynamics of Mass Communication: An Introduction, for McGraw-Hill Publishing Company; and ¯O.J. Simpson as Mass Spectacle¯, a book chapter in her forthcoming book. She enjoyed playing tennis, spending time with her rescued animals and taking her dogs for walks. She also enjoyed cooking, movies, traveling and golf. Dr. Lamude was formerly a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Meadville, PA. Services will be held Sunday, 12:30 p.m., at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA. Committal services will take place at the chapel of St. Brigids Cemetery, followed by a brief gathering at St. Mary's Center at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
