Obituary for Carter

Eugene F. Carter, 77, died on Saturday, September 9, 2000 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Carter Brinkley; step-son, Eric Redick and wife, Wendy; his wife, Audrey Yoos Carter, and her son, Mark Yoos and wife, Marsha and their children; her son, Craig and wife, Cheryl, and their children of New Hampshire; brother, Tilmon J. Carter and wife, Nancy; nephews, Dr. J. Dan Carter and wife, Barbara, W. Don Carter and wife, Jaime, all of Lufkin, TX; niece, Carolyn Bell and husband, Mike of Bellaire, TX; five great-nephews; five great-nieces and one great-great-niece and many dear cousins. Eugene was born in Prescott, AZ on July 2, 1923. He moved with his family to Houston, TX in 1928. Following his graduation from Reagan High School in 1941, he attended electronics school and then worked for KTRH radio for 5 years and then moved to Albuquerque and joined KOB radio. After an FBI clearance, he began a 38 year career as a staff associate in the engineering section as Sandia Labs. Gene was a multi-talented person who not only had great expertise in electronics, but also was a master craftsman who built his own beautiful home. He was a HAM radio operator who talked and made friends with people all over the world. Gene was an active member of the University Church of Christ in Albuquerque, and his honesty, compassion, gentleness, kindness and soft-spoken manner exemplified the fine Christian man that he was. He was predeceased by his parents, J.D. and Stella Starnes Carter; his first wife, Lyndall Baker Carter and his second wife, Karoline Redick Carter. Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE with Reverend Mike Manley, officiating. Interment will take place in Bluff City, AR. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Carter, Maconrad Carter, Dr. Bob Telepak, Bill Muckerhide, Tom Howard, Mark Yoos and Craig Yoos. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
