Obituary for Turner

Irene Turner, 88, a resident of Albuquerque and Santa Fe since 1966, died on Wednesday, September 6, 2000. Mrs. Turner is survived by her two nieces, Rosemary Miles of Flagstaff, AZ and Gwendolyn Davis of Boulder, CO; grandniece, Karen Sue McCullough of Albuquerque; and longtime close friends, Kenneth Davis of Berryville, AR and Wanda Ivey of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by husband, E.A.Bert Turner in 1985; and brother, John Kuchinskas. At the age of 21, Mrs. Turner was admitted to practice law in Illinois, where she practiced for many years. She later practiced before the U.S Supreme Court and was a part of the first group of women commissioned as a U.S. Navy officer during WWII. Mrs. Turner served mostly in the office of the Judge Advocate General while in the Navy. Service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2000, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE, with Father Sam Falbo officiating. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. .DMP
