Obituary for Mckinley

Ruth Willard McKinley, born on March 27, 1928, passed away September 3, 2000 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her three children, Anita Willard, Cindy Willard Roybal, and Steve Willard, along with her children's spouses, Bill Niendorff, Luis Roybal and Kim Willard. She leaves six grandchildren, Robin Willard Niendorff, Risa and Alegra Roybal and Eli, Teo and Schuyler Willard. Ruth moved to New Mexico in 1952 to work at the Espanola Hospital as a missionary nurse for the Methodist Church. She met and married Frank Willard Jr. in 1953, who predeceased her in death in 1986. She lived most of her life in Espanola then later moved to Belen and enjoyed the ranching life with her most recent husband, Wayne McKinley. Ruth was an active member of the Belen Baptist Church and volunteered for various programs such as literacy, Red Cross, domestic violence and participated in breast cancer support groups. Ruth was loved and admired for her thoughtfulness, generosity and wisdom. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life, as was traveling to faraway places. Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Belen (off Main, east on Becker) on September 16, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Presbyterian Hospice Program, 8300 Constitution Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, (505) 559-1133.
