Obituary for Norton

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday May 28, 2000

Alan Christopher Norton passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2000. Chris was born on August 30, 1954 in Greenville, TN, where he was most at home on his grandaddy's farm. His father, an Air Force Officer, moved the family to Albuquerque in 1969, where Chris graduated from Del Norte High School in 1972. Over the next 28 years, he managed a home improvement store and worked in a retail warehouse. Co-workers admired his strong work ethic. He loved the New Mexico State Fair, and took his nephew there every year. He also enjoyed sports, especially watching the Broncos. Chris was an integral part of his family. If anyone in the family needed him, he was there for either financial or emotional support. His favorite time of the year was Thanksgiving, when he helped gather the family and prepared the turkey. He will be missed. Returning to the family plot in the Smokey Mountains, Chris may rest eternally with his grandparents and father. Chris is survived by his mother, Jean Yost Norton; his sisters, Leslie Clark and Rae Hardage; his nephew, Joshua Norton; his niece, Allison Clark; his brothers-in-law, Michael Clark and Dan Hardage; and his aunt and uncle, Star and Sonny Hashe of Easley, SC. Cremation arrangements are by Sunrise Society, (891-8200).
