Obituary for Major

Duncan Kennedy Major, 69, a resident of Clovis, NM, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2000. He was born December 14, 1930 to Malcolm and Lily (Field) Major in Magdalena, NM. He is survived by his wife, Gail (Marriott) Major, they were married January 26, 1985 in Los Lunas. Mr. Major is also survived by his step-daughter, Julie Carter and her husband, Bob; his step-sons, Lon and wife, Shelley Baker, Jim and wife, Rita Baker, Bruce Baker; his brothers, Malcolm"Buddy" Major Jr., Kenneth Major; his sisters, Alyce Zancanelli, Helen Graham, Marie Major and her husband, Martin Linsey, Johanna Major; and a very special friend, Molly Baldrige. Also surviving him are his ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 28 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Lily Major; and sister, Eugenia Major Dixon. Mr. Major was a ranch manager for the Monte Prieto Ranch since 1975 and a member of the Cattle Growers Association and the New Mexico Farm Bureau. Duncan Major was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and special friend to those who knew him, he will be missed by all. Mr. Major lies in state at the Harris-Hanlon chapel in Mountainair, NM, Sunday, February 20, 2000 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services are Monday, February 21, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at the Trinity Methodist Church in Carrizozo, NM with Tom Woodward officiating. Burial will follow at the Claunch Cemetery in Claunch, NM. Pallbearers are Jim Patterson, Bob Graham, Bob Carter, Greg Arnold, Stuart Major, Ernest Copeland. Honorary pallbearers will be Les Graham, Randall Major, Dave Heft, Travis Brown, Mike Major, Ben Creighton Jr., Billy Bob Shafer, Gray Gallacher, John Maxwell, Loren Patterson and Nacho Najera. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM.
