Obituary for Lopez

Mary Tomasita Lopez passed away in a local hospital on Sunday, February 13, 2000. Mary, with her twin brother, Tomas were born to Benito and Pablita Velarde in San Marcial, NM on October 23, 1910. She moved to Albuquerque with her husband, Ray Lopez in September, 1929. Mary is survived by her beloved son, Ray Lopez Jr. and wife, JoAnn; five daughters, Michele Padilla and husband, Bill, Pauline Pate and husband, Jay, Helen Armijo and husband, Richard, Hazel Jean Riggs of Pueblo, CO and Nancy Faherty and husband, Jim; daughter-in-law, Josie Lopez; son-in-law, Jose Sandoval; brother, Lawrence and wife, Dolores of El Monte, CA; sister-in-law, Concha Velarde of Albuquerque; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymundo; three sons, Pedro, Ned and Ben Lopez; grandsons, Richard Armijo Jr. and Brian Padilla; son-in-law, Bill Riggs; sister, Genevive Garcia; and brother, Florian Velarde. Mary had lived with her daughter, Pauline and husband, Jay since the death of her beloved son, Ben. Her little hands were always busy embroidering for her family. She devoted her life to her family and was a wonderful mother. Mary was kind and gentle, and loved by many. She will be greatly missed, yet never forgotten. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Josie Lopez reciting. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darlene Lopez, Orlando Sandoval, Brian Delillo, John Padilla, Richard Armijo, Jason Riggs and Sean Faherty. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Tuesday, 4:00 p.m. until Rosary.
