Obituary for Salazar

Jenel Melissa Salazar, age 17, passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 31, 2000, following a sudden illness. Jenel was born January 22, 1983 in Las Vegas, NM to the home of Roger and Jeanette Anaya Salazar. Jenel was a student at Santa Rosa High School and would have been a senior this year. She enjoyed working with arts and crafts, and drawing, she also enjoyed writing poems. Jenel worked for Rudy Sanchez at the Pecos Theatre for several years, she enjoyed volunteering her time at the Moise Memorial Library and she was currently working at the T and D Food Market. Jenel was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Dolores and Trancito Montoya, Toribio and Alicia Flores, Andalecio and Vicentita Cordova and Guadalupe and Rita Salazar. Survivors include her parents, Roger and Jeanette Salazar of the family home in Santa Rosa; her brother, Edward Romero of Wyoming; her maternal grandparents, Horacio and Martina Anaya; her paternal grandparents, Miguel and Beatrice Salazar, all of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m. from the Santa Rosa High School Gymnasium with Rev. Kevin Coop officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Serving as pallbearers will be her cousins, Justin Anaya, Angelo Anaya, Edward Lucero, Carlos Cordova, Steven Ray Cordova, John Maestas, Andrew Salazar and her brother, Edward Romo. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Class of 2001. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., at the Chavez Funeral Home and on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Moise Memorial Library in Jenel's name, where books will be bought in her memory.
