Obituary for Nelson

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday April 25, 2000

Carlyn Nelson, age 32, of Austin, Texas, died unexpectedly, Friday, April 7th, along with her faitherful dog"Shep". Carlyn was born in San Antonio, Texas August 26, 1967. Our beautiful Carlyn was loved very much by her family and friends for her strength, generosity, kind heart, and sense of humor. Her shining, green eyes and straight-from-the-heart smile touched everyone. Even though Carlyn was constrained by a wheelchair for seven years, she stood taller than most, living life to the fullest with zest, vitality and her special grace. Carlyn graduated from the University of Texas in 1992 and was an account executive for KLBJ radio. Upon hearing of her death the city of Austin had a 30 second blackout on all radio and television stations. Over 900 of her friends and clients paid tribute at a celebration of her life on April 10th. Carlyn is survived by her mother, Mallory Nelson of Albuquerque; father, Corky Nelson of Belton, TX; twin sister, Kerie of Austin, and sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and George Clark; niece, Audrey of Atlanta, GA; and aunt and uncle, Carolyn and Gene DeDea of Albuquerque.
