Obituary for Lucero

Mr. Virgil Lucero died Friday in Albuquerque at the age of 70. Mr. Lucero was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lucero; brother, Roger Lucero; and great-granddaughter, Lexus Jinzo-Chavez. He is survived by his wife, Maria C. Lucero; sons, Danny Lucero and Virgil Vincent Lucero Jr. and wife, Shirley; daughters, Esther Garcia and husband, Ruben, Sybil Chavez and husband, Leroy, and Marie Gutierrez and husband, Offie; step-son, Ernest Gonzales; brothers, Fernando Lucero and wife, Gloria, Rudy Lucero and wife, Edna, and Richard Lucero and wife, Virginia of California; sisters, Viola Yardley and Lynn of Florida, and Priscilla Reyes and Teniente of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Lucero will be held on Monday at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. by Fr. Juan Mendez. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Marty Chavez, Phillip Gutierrez, Ernest Gonzalez, Chad Padilla, Leroy Chavez and Robert Lucero. Honorary pallbearers will be Shirley Lucero, Nicole Lucero, Matthew Lucero, Carlos Garcia, Joey Gonzales and Brian Jaramillo. A Rosary for Mr. Lucero will be recited on Sunday evening, 7:00 p.m., at the Nativity Church.
