Obituary for Swanson

Melvin Albert Swanson, born June 1, 1920 and died at home April 18, 2000 at the age of 79. He is survived by four children; sons Dirk, Ward, and Baird, and daughter Marn; and is survived by ten loving grandchildren. Melvin grew up in North Dakota, joined the US Navy in 1938, and served honorably throughout World War II aboard the USS Richmond in the Pacific theater. After the war, Melvin worked as a geologist throughout the western USA, eventually settling in Corrales, New Mexico to raise his family. His loving gentle spirit is with us all. There will be a memorial service at the United Methodist Church 136 west Calle Don Andres in Bernalillo (one block west of Abuelita's restaurant off Camino Del Pueblo) at 4:00 pm Friday, April 21, 2000. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, to please make donations to the Bernalillo Senior Citizen's Center.
