Obituary for Slaughter

Edwin Ray Slaughter, age 68, died on April 8, 2000 at home in Oxnard, CA and has gone to be with the Lord. Ed was born on September 26, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana and grew up in Indianapolis with his family. Ed retired from the US Army as an illustrator and then became an insurance adjuster in Albuquerque. Ed and his wife moved to California in 1978 where Ed continued to work in insurance as well as give art lessons. Ed and his wife located to Oxnard, CA in 1998. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Helen Marie (Mickey) Slaughter; his children, Susan Burlison and husband, Tom of Albuquerque and Jeffery Slaughter of Fair Oaks, CA; grandchildren, Christine Burlison of Albuquerque, and Brett Slaughter of Fair Oaks, CA; and brothers and sisters, Christina Riordan and husband, Frank of Niangua, MO, David Slaughter and wife, Sherry of Jupiter, FL, Earl Slaughter and wife, Barbara of Indianapolis, IN, Juanita Bryant and husband, Carol of Indianapolis, IN and Nina Mayes and husband, Larry of Monrovia, IN. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Harvey; as well as brother, Harvey Slaughter (survived by wife, Sally), of Carmel, IN and Paul Slaughter (survived by wife, Teresa) of Indianapolis, IN; and sisters, Gertrude Smith of W. Dennis, MA and Virginia Gorbett of Las Vegas, NV. A Memorial celebration of Ed's life will be held April 21, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501.
