Obituary for Thomas

Artist (Art) John Thomas, 85, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2000. He was born January 17, 1915 In Hartshorne, Oklahoma. He graduated from Haskell Indian School, Lawrence, Kansas in 1935. He moved to Dulce, NM, he was a mechanic at the Powerhouse in 1938. His work career included International Harvester, Willy's Jeep, Galles Motors. He retired from UNM motor pool in 1981. He was a resident of Albuquerque since 1946. For many summers he lived at Stone House Lodge, Heron Lake, NM. He is survived by a brother, Jimmie Rivers and wife, Maria of Placerville, CA; a daughter, Artiste Morrow of Aurora, CO; two sons, Thomas John Thomas and wife, Diana of Albq., Martin (Ray) Thomas and wife, Judi of Sandia Park, NM; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and loyal fishing buddy, Elliot Martin of Albq. Memorial services will held on the West side of Heron Lake State Park on Saturday, September 23, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Albuquerque, or plant a rose bush.
