Obituary for Rusek

Sister Mary Calasantia Rusek (Helen Rusek) died on Saturday, September 16, 2000 at the Felician Sisters Convent in Rio Rancho. She was born on January 14, 1909, in Evanston, Illinois to Anthony and Marianne (Dominiak) Rusek, both of Poland. Sister Calasantia served in Religious Life for 70 years as a Felician-Franciscan. She was certified in the culinary arts by the Fanny Farmer School of Cooking in Boston, Massachusetts, and ministered in nutrition services in schools, convents, and orphanages across ten states for 58 years. She also enjoyed handcrafts and sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents; three infant brothers; brothers, John and Casimir Rusek; sisters, Mary Rusek, Anna Ponkowski and Lottie Milecki. Several nieces and nephews survive her. A Wake Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. and a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2000. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the convent at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2000, with Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
