Obituary for Bratun

Rudolph Joseph Bratun, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 36 years, died Monday, February 7, 2000 at his home. He was born December 12, 1921 in Murray, UT to Frances Schippel Bratun and John Joseph Bratun, both of them immigrants from Austria. He grew up in Murray and Salt Lake City. Mr. Bratun was recruited and hired by National Cash Register Company because of a store window display of a desk and cabinetry he made in high school. He served in the Navy from 1941 until the end of WWII as one of the first technicians for aviation applications for the new science of radar. While stationed in Stillwater, OK he met and married his future wife. He married Alma Gene Berry in 1944 and they were married for 55 years. After the war they moved to Salt Lake City where he was employed by National Cash Register for 45 years. He managed the Technical Services Division in Ogden, UT; Las Vegas, NV; Denver, CO; and Albuquerque. Mr. Bratun is survived by his wife, Alma; daughters, Juliana Bratun and her son, Zachary of Boulder, CO, Katy Bratun and husband, Steve Gregory and their son, Eric of Salem, MA, Liz Bratun of Sacramento, CA, and Annie Bratun of Jim Thorpe, PA. His family always felt his devotion to them and his kindness, humor and hard work were very much appreciated and he will be deeply missed. Memorial services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Dr. Larry Morris officiating.
